The Business Side of Photography

Think photography is all sunsets and perfectly arranged petals? Think again. The business side of photography is real, and it’s where creativity meets spreadsheets.

Why the Business Side Matters

As a photojournalist who thrives on working with people and nonprofits, I’ve learned that the best photos often come from genuine connections, not just perfect lighting. But behind every striking image is a little bit of business savvy: contracts, timelines, client communication, and yes, the occasional math (calculators are helpful), and of course, filing annual license renewals and taxes!

People + Nonprofits = My Sweet Spot

I specialize in working with people and nonprofits. The best photos happen when clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether it’s documenting a nonprofit’s mission or capturing someone’s milestone, my goal is storytelling that matters.

Creativity Doesn’t Have to Clash with Business

So, while I love my camera, I also love making sure my clients feel heard, understood, and excited about the final product. Because when creativity meets responsibility, the results are a record of moments that matter, captured professionally and delivered without drama.
